TEAMSTERS LOCAL 14 NEEDS YOU TO VOLUNTEER

Dear Members:

As you may or may not be aware, public sector employees are under national attack. Specifically, there are a number of bills being proposed in the State of Nevada. (Please visit http://www.leg.state.nv.us/ and review all information pertaining to these bills and scheduled sessions and meetings to address same. Additionally, a number of the proposed bills are enclosed for your convenience). These bills are being seen throughout the entire country. http://www.lvrj.com/opinion/unions-day-of-reckoning-arrives-113157779.html

Teamsters Local 14 has been deeply involved in a coalition formed to fight these bills in Carson City. Now more than ever it is imperative that you become involved and volunteer time to inform the public of the need to protect your jobs. Over the next four Saturdays, we are in need of volunteers from each public entity to join us in an informative march we will be conducting in a joint effort with the coalition. We will be walking neighborhoods and providing the correct information to voters throughout the City of North Las Vegas, Las Vegas and Henderson. Currently, voters are being flooded by extremely negative information about you and your benefits. It is those same voters that placed politicians in their positions; the politicians that are petitioning the state and the voters to end collective bargaining rights, union protection and a large majority of your benefits. It is very important that you all get involved. Research information, bills that are to be in session across the country and the countless news articles from L.A. Times to the New York Times. It is time that you make yourself aware that your involvement is more important now than ever. Those of you that have negative feelings about the union, for the time being you need to refocus that energy towards participating in protecting your rights.

If you are able and are willing to participate over the next four Saturdays starting at 10:00 a.m. in an effort to protect your rights, please respond to this email address with the subject line “Volunteer for Public Employee Coalition.” In the body of the email include your name, contact information and availability. If you have any other comments or have questions, contact your stewards or business agent. The purpose of my email is to inform you. I will not have the availability to open emails that do not involve volunteering for this important effort. Once I have received your volunteer information, I will inform you of the locations.

It is very important that you become active now.

Thank you.
